In October this year my boyfriend and I visited Sharm El Sheikh for the first time, it was the first time that either of us had been to North Africa and it had been recommended to us by lots of friends, family and colleagues. It was also the best destination to go to in order to secure 40 degree heat and bright blue skies in the middle of October, so we went and we had an amazing time. However, 5 weeks after we returned there were reports of people in Sharm El Sheikh being attacked by sharks (we had chosen to stay in the not so cleverly named Hilton Sharks Bay), then a shark was caught and people were allowed to go back into the water. But just a couple of days later a lady was tragically killed after a shark attacked her. I wonder whether these attacks will stop people from going to Sharm El Sheikh or whether it will just stop them going into the sea. I would certainly return to Egypt and Sharm El Sheikh but there is no chance I would ever go back in the sea there now.
